Gossip Girl Tour
First up on our list of things to do in NYC and DC for lovers of TV is a tour inspired by the glossy teen drama Gossip Girl. The show looked at a group of elite young New Yorkers; it was based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar.
The show – which starred Blake Lively, Peter Badly and Chace Crawford – ran for six seasons and 121 episodes, showcasing some of Manhattan’s most exclusive districts in the process.
You’ll see locations such as the Grand Central Station, featured prominently in the pilot when Blair returns to NYC after her disappearance, and the Vera Wang boutique where she later tries on her wedding gown.
Check out these locations and more on this 3.5-hour bus tour, which departs every Thursday to Sunday at 10am.
48 Hour Hop-on Hop-off Washington, DC Bus Tour
On this cost-effective bus tour, you can see many of the major sights featured in the Netflix smash hit series House of Cards.
Set in modern-day Washington, D. C., the show explores political ambition in the White House, and the opening credits alone feature an array of world-famous structures: the Washington Monument, the Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial among them.
You can see all this and more either from the comfort of the bus or by getting off and exploring at one of 20 stops: these include the Newseum and of course The White House.

Sex and the City Hotspots Tour
It’s hard to believe that Sex and the City, HBO’s seminal TV show celebrating female sexuality, ended 15 years ago! But no matter: you can relive the relationship dramas, cocktail-fuelled nights out and shopping adventures on this 3.5-hour tour. You’ll see over 40 locations used in the Sarah Jessica Parker-starring series!
Among them, the Treasure Chest sex shop where Charlotte buys her first vibrator, the New York Public Library where Carrie almost ties the knot with on-off man-friend Mr Big, and the church where, in a famous moment from series four, Samantha attempts to seduce a priest!
Brooklyn Bridge Bike Tour
Finally on our round up of TV-themed things to do in NYC and DC, it’s the Brooklyn Bridge Bike Tour. Not only is it featured prominently in the opening credits of Sex and the City, but it also inspired a namesake TV show (Brooklyn Bridge) which ran for two seasons from 1991-1993. The Bridge is also featured in an array of blockbuster movies, from Enchanted to the French Connection.
You’ll use Trek or Giant bicycles on this two-hour tour, with free helmets available on request.
